DLN Success Story – Mississippi Woman No Longer in Pain

Mary is a 55-year-old woman from Oxford. She did assembly work for years before health issues prevented her from working. Mary was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and Nephrotic Syndrome and was also born with a defect to her left arm. Further complicating her health problems, Mary also had brittle decayed teeth. A few were broken and the remaining ones caused her constant pain. Mary needed dental treatment but had nowhere to turn.

Dental Lifeline Network • Mississippi and the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program came to Mary’s rescue. Volunteer Dr. Walker Swaney agreed to help Mary restore her oral health in order to support partial dentures.  Volunteer dental lab Oral Arts donated a partial upper and partial lower denture for Mary. With her mouth healthy again, Mary can now continue to enjoy helping her friends shop and help watch her grandchildren.

“I am no longer hurting and am so thankful for your services. You just don’t know how my mouth hurt before.” –Mary
