Delta Dental of Missouri Grant Supports Dental Lifeline Network • Missouri

DenverApril 23, 2018 Delta Dental of Missouri, the state’s dental benefits leader and a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization based in St. Louis, has awarded a $40,000 grant to Dental Lifeline Network • Missouri to help vulnerable Missourians get critical dental care through the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program. The grant will help nearly 232 people receive $730,000 in comprehensive dental care.

The funds will support the work of 358 dentists and 87 dental laboratories who volunteer for DDS in Missouri. DDS volunteers donate comprehensive treatment to people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile and have no other way to pay for much-needed dental treatment. Each dollar of support generates $8.87 in donated care.

“We share mutual goals with Dental Lifeline Network—to improve oral health and to help provide access to vital dental care, especially for those who need it the most,” said Delta Dental of Missouri’s President and CEO, Rob Goren, who serves on the company’s charitable giving committee. “That’s why we’re so glad to know that our grant will be used to help give essential dental treatment to so many individuals in our state, who may not be able to get it any other way. Their quality of life depends on it.”

Through its social mission to improve oral health, Delta Dental of Missouri provides financial support for dental health initiatives, educational programs, community outreach events and charitable causes each year, contributing $2.4 million in 2017.

The Missouri DDS program has provided over $8.3 million in donated services to more than 1,800 patients since it began in 1999. It is part of a national network that has generated more than $370 million in services to 118,000 patients through DDS since 1986.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Delta Dental of Missouri,” said Dr. James Schmidt, DDS, Chair of Dental Lifeline Network • Missouri. “With Delta Dental’s support, we are able to change many more lives of individuals in need of dental care.”
