To honor dental students who are dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities, Dental Lifeline Network partners with 52 accredited dental schools nationwide to give out the Brian D. Stone Memorial Award. This award, established 20 years ago by Brian’s parents, Drs. Joy and Justin Stone of New Jersey, allows DLN to recognize future dental professionals who believe in helping our most vulnerable populations through volunteering.
Dr. Kelly Herzog is one of this year’s recipients. A 2024 graduate from Marquette University School of Dentistry, her desire to help individuals with their health, confidence, and pain management inspired her decision to become a dentist, as she recognized dentistry’s profound impact on these areas. During her time at school, Dr. Herzog recognized the importance of volunteering and giving back to those who need help. She worked closely with patients who had disabilities and saw their cases from start to finish.
“Volunteering can make a difference in someone’s life,” said Dr. Herzog. “We can make a difference and that is something that should be given back.”
This year, 49 students from 52 dental schools across the United States received this distinguished award. DLN hopes to continue expanding this program by adding more schools and recipients. If you are a dental school interested in joining the Brian D. Stone Award program, please fill out this form.
