WHAT'S INVOLVED

FOR DENTISTS

As a dentist you will be providing life-changing care to those in need in your community.

THE NETWORK

As a volunteer, you will be part of DLN’s national network of 12,500 volunteer dentists and 3,200 volunteer laboratories, working together to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

THE NEED

DLN facilitates donated, comprehensive treatment to vulnerable people with disabilities, the elderly or those who are medically compromised. The need for dental care in the U.S. is great. In 2016 more than 2 million U.S. emergency room visits were attributed to neglected teeth. We need volunteers like you to help serve the more than 11,000 people on our wait list.

HOW IT WORKS

Volunteering made easy. We handle the details, you provide the care in your office and on your schedule. Our local coordinators screen patients to confirm eligibility, help ensure that patients show up to their appointments, coordinate lab work and specialty care, and serve as a liaison between your staff and the patient.

“Volunteering is easy. DLN screens those in need and coordinates the initial appointment. Patients are treated right in my office, on my schedule. If you’re like me and want to make a real difference in someone’s life — DLN makes it possible.” – Mandy Miller, DDS – Volunteer

For Laboratories

Many patients need dentures, crowns or bridges, which require fabrication by dental laboratories. The National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) endorses the DLN and many labs volunteer to donate these appliances. You may visit the Frequently Asked Questions section for further information.

TEETH

Ivoclar Vivadent and Vident will replace teeth used for dentures for any case in which the laboratory fabrications are donated.

CROWNS AND BRIDGES

Ivoclar Vivadent contributes CEREC blocks, ingots and other restorative materials used on donated cases.
