$5,000 grant from North Carolina Dental Society expands dental care for elderly, disabled in state

DENVER, Colo. — The N.C. Dental Society Foundation is helping a national dental program fulfill its mission of providing dental care to elderly, disabled and medically fragile citizens.

In collaboration with the N.C. Community Foundation, the dental foundation is awarding a $5,000 grant to the Dental Lifeline Network, that provides comprehensive treatment to people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile through a network of volunteer dentists and labs.

The critical need for access to care continues to rise as more people become elderly, disabled or medically fragile and are unable to afford dental care. Since its inception in 1985, the network, and its flagship program Donated Dental Services, has surpassed $378 million in donated dental therapies, transforming the lives of 120,550 people.

“Thanks to the long-time and generous support of the N.C. Dental Society and its Foundation, Dental Lifeline Network will be able to bring life-changing and life-saving care to people with special needs who have no other way to get treatment,” said Fred Leviton, CEO, Dental Lifeline Network.
