The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to Dental Lifeline Network to help vulnerable individuals in the state receive critical dental care through the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program.
The grant will help 250 elderly military veterans in states in which Delta Dental operates receive $700,000 in comprehensive dental care. These states include Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.
The funds will support the coordination of services provided through 3,800 dentists, and 1,120 dental laboratories who volunteer for DDS in the previously mentioned locations, in which the Foundation. DDS volunteers donate comprehensive treatment to people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile.
“The partnership between DLN and Delta Dental has been critical for maintaining the financial resources needed to run the Donated Dental Services (DDS) Program,” said Lynda Ricketson, President and CEO of Dental Lifeline Network. “While treatment is provided on a volunteer basis, funds support volunteer recruitment and patient coordination.
DDS programs are part of a national network which has provided over $514 million in donated services to over 166,000 patients since it began in 1985. The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation’s grant is a significant contribution to the cumulative impact happening for the DDS program nationally. For over 35 years, DLN has partnered with volunteer dentists, laboratories, and strategic corporate partners across the country and connected people with special needs to comprehensive dentistry.
